ECOWAS parliament calls for international arrest warrants against terrorist groups
The 42nd Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) took place in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire, on February 27 and 28, 2012 under the chairmanship of H.E. Alassane Ouattara, President of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire and Chairman of the Authority.

The ECOWAS Parliament has called on member-states to cooperate to effect the International Arrest Warrants against the leadership of terrorist groups in Mali.
This was part of the resolutions adopted at the close of the 2013 First Extraordinary Session of the Third Legislature of the ECOWAS Parliament in Abuja on Thursday.
Sen. Ike Ekweremadu, Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, said that the move would serve as a deterrent to other terrorist groups.
